Ethiopia Education Endowment Fund
was formed in 2003 to provide quality Christian education for young people and church leaders in one of the
poorest lands in the world. We work in partnership with Presbyterian
Church (USA) - related schools in Dembi Dollo, Ethiopia.
Our
mission
is to provide Christian educational opportunities for children, youth and
young adults living in chronic poverty to transform their lives.
Our strategy
is to create a solid, sustaining foundation: cultivate financial
stability for each schools' ministry, promote educational
security for students, strengthen instruction and expand
curriculum in each school, recruit exemplary, qualified
teachers, and help stimulate future employment and
business options through students' educational and vocational
training.
Our method
is to work through our Development Committee,
Ethiopian partners and
Presbyterian Church (USA) to collaborate, create, and counsel.
Our commitment, motivated
by Jesus Christ’s example of teaching, preaching and healing, is
to encourage the best education possible for our young people, working in partnership with our Ethiopian
brothers and sisters with respect, integrity, and stewardship.

Achieving An Education
In Some Areas Of The World Is Truly
A Miracle
As education, business and economic development, and overall
living standards in many parts of the world continue advancing,
Africa’s people have been left behind.
Of Ethiopia's roughly 72 million people, only an estimated 42
percent of adults can
read and write, and less than 20%
of children under the age of 18 are educated. Children have few
formal educational opportunities. Most villagers
don't have access to education, or, if they do, families cannot
afford tuition, with the average
income for a family of four under $400 a year. For those fortunate enough to
attend school, few options exist,
or qualified teachers to educate them. Without solid education,
the future of Ethiopia’s children is as bleak as their past; a
destiny mired in unrelieved poverty, disease, drought, civil
unrest, and ethnic tensions.
We’re working to change that, and you can be part of this
remarkable opportunity.
