Welcome to Berhane Yesus Elementary (BYES), Bethel Evangelical Secondary (BESS) and Gidada Bible School (GBS)– three quality institutions where blessings abound. 

Located in Dembi Dollo,  Ethiopia, these schools are overseen by Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY), founded through missionary efforts of Presbyterian Church (USA) and Evangelical Lutheran Church (Euro and American) over a hundred years ago. 

Education at BYES, BESS, and GBS is not government funded. Of the worthy prospective students who pass rigorous exams to qualify for entrance, many cannot afford the tuition to attend.

For those fortunate to have resources and support to pursue an education, during the last four decades school directors, faculty and administrative staff have united together to work miracles.

Children and young people's dreams are nurtured, students devote their best efforts to studies,  teachers challenge them to strive, and learn, all with the goal in mind of graduating, and contributing to building a stronger, better educated, advancing society. 

And, in an ever-growing Ethiopian Christian community the need for quality education intensifies throughout the country. 

Ethiopia Education Endowment Fund recognizes that these bright students, and many who cannot yet enroll in school, must continue their education, not only to break the cycle of poverty, but to become educators, health care specialists, business persons, skilled workers, and other professionals for a prosperous economic future.
